Long Time Coming

I know that it has been forever since I last blogged, but so much has been going on. There is no way I could write a monster blog to tell everything, because I know I would forget something and have to re write it multiple times. And to be honest that is WAY more work than I am willing to commit to for a blog that I don't think anybody even reads anymore. So I'm just gonna wing it and say whatever I think of. Hopefully I'll be a little bit better about keeping this updated and all the junk I've been doing will trickle into new stories. It's funny, sometimes I feel like I don't do anything that interesting to blog about, and when I finally do I'm usually to busy/exhausted/lazy to write about it.

I really can't say how wonderful my time was in Seattle. It's such a beautiful city and Emily and I had so much fun here. I've tried to add some of my pictures here, but I took SO MANY!!! Work has been going pretty well and I just started summer school last week. I have some really long days. Emily is doing well and accepted the GA position that was offered to her. She is so excited about starting school. My classes this summer are really interesting, but there is so much work in so short of time that it kind of makes you head spin. Gas prices are insane. Living just above the poverty line and having to drive is awful. These prices start cutting into your grocery money. Emily and I decided that to combat the situation we should start suburban hiking (Emily's fancy name for walkin' to work). The distances seem daunting to us out of fit beginners, but we warmed up with a walk to Friendly Center and back. After that we had a nice dinner with friends. The coolest thing in Seattle was the sci-fi museum. The first Starbucks was kind of small and dingy. I was jealous that they had the old espresso machines, but the partners were a little unpleasant and rude. However, all of the other Starbucks stores we visited in Seattle had the nicest partners I think I've ever met. We rode on a duck tour, walked all over, rode the bus through this awesome underground tunnel thingy, ate TONS of delicious food, met a giant troll, and had an awesome time. Here's my photos. By special request I would like to share with you some good news. It's about a new person in my life that I think deserves some attention. He started working at my store a few months ago and has already managed to stand out as an entirely awesome dude. He rocks the guitar, puppies, and being a supervisor harder and more badass than any crazy s.o.b. I've ever seen. He rides his bike to work. He gets married. He has 1.7 million free number one combo coupons. Ryan. A name to send sparkling streamers of joy shooting from the top of every cloud catching onto the still falling condensed water that is rain and falling down on our heads in a delightful shower of glory that permeates our every cell, leaving us bathed in the light of his person. Notes from the ds IN SEATTLE!!!

Hey everyone, Emily and I are chillin' in Seattle. We are staying with her pops. Yesterday we went down to the Pike Place market and checked out all the vendors and the fish throwing. I got to see Starbucks mecca and visit the first store, but it was alittle disappointing. After that we went on a tour of the Seattle underground. It was awesome. Expect more blog updates now that school is out. There is so much to tell you about (and expect LOTS of pictures). Today we are going to the sci-fi museum and the aquarium and also a duck tour. Then we may go see Iron Man.

Bicentennial and Bananas

It's that time of year where every day is a struggle just to get out of bed. I have so much due at school that I can't even breathe. Luckily I have a blog and an Emily to vent to. There is only really two or three projects that are going to eat me alive, but I'm not all that worried. I think that my first few insane tax return purchases are going to start trickling in. Once the semester is over I will really be able to enjoy them. So far I have amassed a massive quantity of books and magazines to read once school is out. This summer I will have a crazy first five weeks, but then it will slow down a little. Hopefully I will be able to save up some money and relax. I really want to do some canoing this summer. My spellcheck says that "canoing" is spelled correctly, but it still looks really weird to me. Emily got into grad school, and I am so proud of her. She really worked hard to get it. This past Saturday Emily and I attended the bicentennial celebration downtown. The African drumming/dance show was awesome. I took a picture of them when they came off the stage to dance with some of the kids and one very special young man in the crowd. There was also a really cool exhibit on antique bicycles that I enjoyed. It seems like I don't have many reasons to go downtown. It is really nice with the new plaza. My Ubuntu system seems to be working very well, and it very hard to go back to windows or even the mac os (on Emily's computer). I know that Linux is not for everyone, but it JUST WORKS. Which is hyper important to me. Here are some photos.

Thursday Night

Well I finished my History paper (regrettably not my strongest) and took the Chemistry Test. I think I did okay on the Chemistry test (I better!). Today was really interesting. Besides the stress of all of the school stuff, I decided that it might be an okay idea to trim my beard and

mustache as they were getting a little scraggly. One or two (or three) unfortunate accidents later and my beard is almost all gone and I have no mustache. I should have known not to have tried something like that after consuming 5 cup of coffee, a redbull, and 3 actifeds. My History teacher informed me this evening that he had discovered my blog. I'm not sure if its a good thing that people I know are reading it. They might discover just how COOL I am.

-Emily is waiting with bated breath for UNCG's response to her grad. school application. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for her, not that she needs it.

Here are some shoes I tried to make out of flip flop soles and an old T-shirt. Lesson learned? I can't make shoes.










-I want a scooter. You just can't beat that 80+ mpg. Will people laugh at me? Yes. Will I laugh at them when I'm getting my uno gallon of gas? Also, yes.
-ebay is a dangerous place for me. It's worse than gambling. I don't even know what all I have bought. It seems to go like this every year after I get my taxes back. I save it and save it and then make one purchase that breaks the levee. A few weeks later I'm broke and weird ass packages start showing up at my door.



This is the house I live in. E. and I use the steps on the side. I like it, and I think its purty.




-I just got started on a new song for my band. If you don't know about the band then I don't know what to tell you. It's only the greatest band of all time! We are tentatively calling ourselves Pegasus Soundwave. But that might change.
-Robots are awesome.
-So is reggae. If you mix dub reggae and robots in outer space then that is the cooles of all.
-I want to go to Laos. Wikitravel is pretty neat and it made me want to go to Laos and eat their delicious food, drink the local beer, and chill. Sigh. Maybe by my 10,000th day.

-This coming year of school is going to be really hard, but I think that I am up for it. Instead of taking a whole extra semester just to pick up a few credits I am taking 3 classes over the summer and 18 credits each semester next year. I was advised to try and pick up a library internship, but instead opted for African Drumming and Yoga.

What I Should Be Doing...

I SHOULD be studying for my Chem. test and writing on my 6 page hist. paper. However, I am spending these wee hours of the night to gimp this photo of me as a Golden God together. Look at that grill shine!!!
My band is veeeeerrrrrrryyyyyy slowly getting off the ground. It takes a little bit for something liek this to come together. Most everyone has an instrument (or at least its in the mail). Ryan said he was going to start writing lyrics, and so have I. Even if we don't use any of this early stuff it is still good practice to see what everyone gels around. Here's my picture. Some Sweet Dreams

First of all, I'd like to mention that apparently I'm not the only one who has thought of the 10k day idea. Here is an article that you may find interesting. If you look near the bottom you will see that yes indeedy my blog was quoted. That counts as being published!!! Here's what I've been up to.
-I was offered the TA position for my Chem. class next spring. Very flattering and exciting. Also I may tutor a girl from my class for real money! They will pay you for that!
-I finally got Ubuntu to work on my old desktop. It took a little time but it really is cool. No Microsoft involved. The experience has been very empowering. I didn't even know what a terminal window was until last night. I was entering code and all sorts of stuff. Hurray! My greatest achievement was getting my rhythmbox to work by looking online at the forums and finding the answer to my problems. It was cool.
-My listening obsession with Vampire Weekend and M.I.A. led me to look at the record label they share. My two big finds are Dizzee Rascal and Ratatat. I can't stop listening to Dizzee. It's very hip.
-I think that the little Starbucks band my get off of the ground. I played a bass today at the music store and it was really fun. I want to talk our drummer into getting an electronic drumkit.
-I checked a "to do" off of my life goals checklist tonight as I purchased an excellent sombrero. It is pretty sweet.
-The lottery is going to be mine. I got a powerball ticket and there is no way I can lose. I'm already planning on what I will do with the money.
-I wrote a short story for my Eng. class and if the teacher doesn't totally rip it to shreds than I my post it on here. Thanks goes out to Ian for proofing it for me!
