Solstice and More

Hello! Just to start things off, here is a poem (slightly augmented) that I wrote for Ems and left on her blog:
"Emily @ the Zoo"
Emily what we will do
is send you off to the zoo
where tigers eye the kangaroos
before they start to chew their food.

In time you may discover deary
that when tigers are kind of weary
they may not be so patient with
young Emilys that pet and hit.

And if by chance you should fall in
where tigers roam, their little pen
perhaps they'd pass on the kangaroo
to have a little taste of you.

Ta da! Everyone always told me to be a writer. But I was always a better reader. Except when it came to "analyzing." I hated that. This past weekend me and EMily went and grabbed Alicia and went to the annual Solstice festival. We met up with Ashley and some of her ladies (including the beautiful Joy-who likes fantasy and is thus okay in my book). There was some imbibing of ginger lemonade (great at first and then moderately disgusting). We split up when the drummers came marching through and never got back together. Unfortunately the event was rained out, and the storm was so great that it drove hippies, homeless, and fairy out of the park. Emily was sorely disappointed as it is her favorite celebration all year. After, me and Ems and Alicia went to Best Diner and had some fries.

Here's how you make a hamster out of characters

Tonight Emily and I went to the grand opening of the Super G Mart, just down the road. It is the anchor store for the FantaCity shopping center that I am sure I have written about before. The store was absolutely amazing. I'm not sure how other international food markets are going to be able to stay open. Not only is Super G Mart huge and full of everything that one can imagine, their prices are really cheap. The lady next to me in line (who mysteriously knew that I worked at Starbucks...Do I smell?) commented on how much cheaper the Super G is than all the rest. I was provided with a free gift with purchase (since it was the grand opening). The free gift is the tupperware pictured below. Even though it says it "dosen werk," I have found that it works fine. Emily and I got a little treasure trove of sweets. I also purchased a scary candle. When we left the store we were given religious bookmarks (Christian) that were in another language. The bookmarks were pretty, but I felt like I was the foreign person. It was a little disconcerting, but gave me a real appreciation for what people coming to our country must face everyday.

Here's my coolest quarter machine find in a long time. It's a Mystic Gemstones bag. You get a carrying bag, two gems, and an explanation of their "powers," all for only fitty cent. I think that this machine may bear some watching. It says to carry a personal item in the bag with your gems to intensify the power (I do! A penny.), and to carry them on the left side of your body (who knows why, but OKAY!). I think I may add a little sidebar with the gems magical powers (oooohhh!) so that I can add more as I get them. Why am I so drawn to worthless pursuits?

I've been reading tons now that I'm out of school. It's such a pleasure to be able to read whatever you want. It's certainly a luxury that I take for granted usually. This past week I've had plenty of time to do fun things like read or watch movies (I've seen Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, Kung Fu Panda, and Doomsday). Watching movies online is certainly cheaper than going to the theaters. I'm super excited about going to see Wall-E this weekend. All the reviews say that it is as fantastic as it looks. Here's a picture of my new Wall-E toy that I TOTALLY didn't go out and buy the first day they were available, (nervous laughter).

Here's a video of a super cool little robot thingy I got in Seattle.

Professor Layton is the best game ever. I bought it before we went to Seattle and finished it soon after we got back. I don't know why I haven't written more about it as it is absolutely delightful. I think that I have enjoyed Professor Layton and the Curious Village on the ds more than I've liked anything on the wii (don't tell Emily, she LOVES the wii). There are two sequals so far but they are only available in Japan. Hopefully they will be available here soon. I don't know how much longer I can wait. Some of the cut scenes in the game are great. You can watch a trailer of it here if you want.

Links of the Blog:
1) More Yuck.
2) In honor of Wall-E opening this weekend, an amazing Pixar short.
3) I'm so embarrassed, but I love this song.*

*And I totally didn't watch some celebrity prom show with her in it where she was really sweet and nice to some dear little country boy which definitely did not make me like her even more because I hardly even like her at all and barely even cry or sing along really loud at stoplights where people see me if this song comes on the radio. That never happened. I swear. Except maybe once.

Oh Golly!

As I sit here listenin' to the sweet sound of The Carolina Chocolate Drops singin' "Cornbread and Butterbeans" I can't help but smile. There's so much happening right now and it's pretty exciting. So here's some news. I'm gonna be an uncle! Yep, Mitch and Anna finally got down to reproducin', so here's hoping that the kid gets his looks and her grace. Poor kid. Henry supposedly thinks that a baby is a great idea, but let's see what he thinks of it when he finds out he can't eat its diapers. Poor Henry. Hey, do you remember that time the giant robot attacked the Seattle space needle and I was there? There was a giant starship shooting laser beams and the robot barely seemed damaged? I do.

I got my new computer. It's pretty awesome and it is really tiny. I tried to take a picture where it was nested with my laptop and my ds, but the pic didn't turn out so well. You'll have to settle for this one instead. My economic incentive check went to gettin' this beauty. Hopefully (I just typed hopegully accidentally and then deleted it, but thought it might make a good band/song/town name. "Hello my name is Jeremiah and I'm from Hopegully NC!") using the little asus in school will save my wrist some wear and tear. It's funny that typing is not so painful for it. You think it would be. Here's a picture of the computer, ds and asus all together. Ahhhh, my babies.

I always love when someone comments on my blog, in fact it makes my day. I was sad that no one had much to say about the Natural Science Center blog and then Ashley gave me this. It's a comment in real life! I was so happy and I carried it around all day. When I started feeling a little down or bedraggled I would just pull it out of my pocket and it was just like watchin' the sun come out from behind the clouds. I think that Ashley may have found a little "joy" of her own, and that makes me happy. She def. deserves some. (I think she was a little stressed out last week)

Here's my latest toy. Emily got it for me at the Hollywood video. I like it tons. Mario is baaaaadass. I might open it someday (probably not).

Remember that time I took a picture of myself and I had the ds stick in my mouth but I had forgotten about it and then when I uploaded the picture I was all like, "WHAT?!", but then I realized what it was and felt silly? No, neither did I.

I'm gonna go procrastinate on some homework now. My little guilty pleasure recently is reading all the dirty old back issues of Asimov's, Fantasy and Science Fiction, and Ellery Queen that I have. It's not the kind of thing that would look so hot on a booklist, so maybe when I finish with this semester I'll take a picture of all the ones I've read so far. I better get to bed now before Emily comes home. She went to see that sex/city movie again. What a piece of garbage. If I wanted to watch four haggard old ladies try and get laid I'd just go Sigh...

On 2000 Visits

Today I had my 2,000th visit. Only 1,982 of which were from me. I turned in my last two papers for the first summer session. I only have two quizzes, a dream journal, and an exam left. Sweet. My good buddy Ryan and his sweetheart Stacy have signed a lease on a house in the neighborhood where Emily and I live. It's gonna be great. I added the most addictive flash thingy on the sidebar. I totally have NOT played this for an hour or three at a time.

I plan to have a more exciting "Jeremy has a cool new computer and exciting news" blog tomorrow. You billious

The Science Center

A few weekends ago me and Emily, along with our friends Ryan and Ashley ventured out to the Natural Science Center. I had not been there since they opened the new animal exhibits, so I was very excited. Emily and I met Ry and Arshley at Chipotle, and gorged on delicious burritos. The day started off with a little strife as Ryan wouldn't stop proselytizing about Barbossa-inos , because he apparently loved the Pirates of the Carribean films. Emily said some stuff and so did Ashley, but I didn't really listen. THERE WAS BARBACOA PEOPLE!!! I LIVE WITH A VEGETARIAN!!! Meat Time is holy time. Afterward we went to Starbucks. The store was not very busy and they had an espresso machine down. So me and Ashley were mean. We invented the most annoying drink in the world to make (but it's cheap!). The Eff-ewe consists of an iced quinti venti sub white mocha breve add energy starbucks doubleshot. Mmmmm.....

From there we went to the Natural Science Center. Before we went in, we decided to look around the park behind it, and show Ryan where the bark park is so he can bring his dog to run and play. On the way we saw some devil ducks. They were really Muscovy, but devil duck sounds catchier.

The Natural Science Center was amazing. I can't even begin to describe all the fun things we saw, but I'll try: a frog maze, a fake science project display, and dissassembled ipod, the world's worst t-rex (he has an anus though), two dead bears, an amazing performing groundhog, bug standups, a two headed turtle (there's a picture if you don't believe me), a blind snake, a cold stunted lizard, sharks puffer fish, millions of snakes, a pendulum (a very loud exhibit thanks to Ryan), snake skeletons, a one eyed owl, a guinea pig, a bunny, spiders, scorpions, more snakes (there were a LOT of snakes), a beautiful water fountain that I may have played in some, meerkats, tortoises, tigers, very disappointing maned wolves, a wallaby, llamas, I milked a fake cow, monkeys, birds, Ashley high fiving a display that was really supposed to show how bird's wings moved, and way too much more to even finish. Also some birds.

After that we went and got a boomerang. I was getting pretty good at it too, but I lost it behind the couch as soon as we got home. Emily seemed kind of happy about that, which is weird.
Then we went to the lake and waited for Stacy to get there. When she arrived we rented some "boats" for the "lake." These were paddle "boats." I don't think they should be called boats because I hate them. They are not made for plus sized Jeremys. Plus we were banned forever from them because we tried to pull up to the shore for snacks. No one told us to read the rules they had posted, and they didn't make me read them before they took my money. This is America, and I could sue THEM for letting me almost hurt myself by jumping from the unsteady plastic boat to shore. Plus I almost put my foot through the boat when I got out. I could have been seriously hurt!

Although I was pretty tired from having Ashley and Emily paddle me around the lake (it gets hot laying in the back) we decided to keep the day going. So all of us piled into cars and went to Red Robin. I had the whiskey river bbq burger with no tomato add bacon. Yum. I'm getting a little drooley now. Emily, Ashley, Ryan and Stacy all talked and said things, but I was too busy getting the restaurant to back up its bottomless fries policy to listen. Afterwards I napped in the car on the way home and had Emily carry me up to bed. It was a pretty awesome Sunday.

A Monumental Day

Today is the third anniversary of the Jeremy/Emily union. It has mostly been okay. There is not much that I could complain about. The infidelities and vicious fights, as well as the physical abuse, are mostly behind us. Most of my bones have healed nicely (did you really think I got carpal tunnel surgery?). Emily seems to have cooled down lately; I don't fear for my life as much as I used to. She is only as annoying in the evening as she is in the morning. The rest of it I manage to block out with migraines. Sometimes I wonder what life would be like without her, but the Stockholm syndrome is so set in that it's useless to fight it. Three years. It seems so much longer. Here are some pictures that span those endless seasons and timeless progressions of seconds that seem like minutes that seem like months. Sigh.
